Atomic Heart is an action FPS game that completely caught me by surprise. For an upcoming new developer — Mundfish — who has only developed a now discontinued VR game so far, that hasn’t stopped them from delivering an impressive game, and they have really hit it out of the park with this one.

Wanted: Dead, we’ve all seen this type of game before: A hack-n-slash and shooter hybrid — Devil May Cry is a touchstone example of this, — as well as most shooter games that have some form of melee combat baked in, but still, it's refreshing to see newcomers in the hack and slash shooter hybrid genre.

In the indie-games industry, production costs are limited. Usually, game creators cannot always afford to create photorealistic graphics and an expansive combination of story and gameplay. Originally released for the PS2 very late in its lifecycle, Persona 4 has since been re-released for the PS Vita years later and more recently on PC a few years ago. Now, Persona 4 Golden is finally widely accessible, having just been released for the PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch yesterday.

There's a certain cuteness in this game; the playful nature of the children, the slice of life presentation, and the lighthearted puzzling elements. At the same time, Children of Silentown is spooky and creepy; from the Tim Burton-esque art style with big white creepy eyes, to the foreboding nature of the story with nightmares and monsters.

ONE PIECE ODYSSEY is something special. A rare occurrence; there’s finally a good Anime game that isn’t a hack and slash or a fighting game, as it instead features a fresh JRPG turn-based combat system. A nice change of pace and a solid design decision worthy of our attention.

High on Life is a new crazy game from the creator of the animated TV series Rick and Morty, that is literally high on all fronts; talking self-aware guns, weirding looking aliens to slaughter in style, and unfiltered abusive dialogue.
